Dr. Conrad Miller, frequent guest of Chuck Harder, is back with Chuck on this episode of ‘For the People.’  “What’s new?” asks Chuck. And the good doctor says he is continuing research about the nuclear spills in Illinois. Illinois, you say? Seems that Exelon, the parent company of some nuclear reactors in Illinois reported last February 2005 that there was some contamination of underground waters due to some spills at the reactors. Some of the spills dated back to 1996. What’s new is that now every local now receives 20 gallons of bottled water per week. Boy, that would certainly make me feel secure- not. From IL, Miller and Chuck ‘travel’ to Chernobyl for a discussion of what is transpiring there. People moving back to the contaminated site seems out of the reach of imagination but it is happening. Miller’s website is CrestOfTheWave.com. Click here to listen to this podcast.

Available via podcast worldwide on the internet. During this show, you will hear a follow up on Godley, Illinois and nuclear spills of 3 MILLION gallons of tritium contaminated water – – which occurred at least twice over the past ten years. Implications for similar spills in all the nuclear towns of America and the world…..

A quote from Karl Z. Morgan, the Grandfather of Health Physics concerning tritium:

“Tritium is the only radionuclide for which we
assume as much is taken into the body via skin
penetration as by inhalation. It is the MOST
invasive of all radionuclides and distributes itself
rather uniformly to all organs and all
body tissues on a microCurie per gram basis.
It presents a somatic, genetic and teratogenic risk. It cannot be separated from
liquid waste by evaporation, a process used to concentrate most radionuclides [especially in nuclear reactors].”

Dr. Miller alerted Mr. Harder’s listeners that Mr. Putin of Russia is leading a push to spread nuclear power around the world, ASAP, via the G-8.
He is so crazy about it, he wants to have floating nuclear plants constructed, on as many bodies of water as possible around the globe.

Also discussed are the latest happenings with the internet
and “net neutrality” and FCC Commissioner Kevin Martin’s push to facilitate further consolidation of our media: including allowing one company to own 8 radio stations, 3 TV stations and one newspaper in your town – – even though 95% of comments to the FCC are against such behavior.

Mention was made of a great movie “The Corporation” that every American should have in their DVD collection and can get from http://www.thecorporation.com

Also, one of the best books of the year “Uncommon Carriers” by John McPhee was briefly discussed and recommended as fun revealing factual transport reading about Coal Trains and ultratechnology sorting in Louisville by its UPS center, and riding with the 66 year old owner and driver of an 80,000 pound tractor-trailor who transports everything from wine to WD-40 in his often-cleaned out rig.

Here is the encapsulating write-up of Dr. Miller’s previous visit to Mr. Harder’s broadcast, June 23, 2006:

Posted on Friday 23 June 2006

Dr. Conrad Miller has been a guest on the For the People show before with host Chuck Harder. The last time around there was discussion regarding COPE (Communications Opportunity Promotion and Enhancement Act of 2006) but this time the main topic is of a nuclear nature. The doctor says the nuclear plants we have now are getting old but renewing their licenses or building new plants is not the answer. He points to the problems that are occurring in Godley, IL as an example as to why nuclear power plants are not “safe and clean” as President Bush has stated. His preference for getting out of the energy mess we are in is wind power. Chuck, himself, built a house powered by solar and wind power but says you still need a backup. Miller, who is author of “The Most Important Issues Americans THINK They Know Enough About,” is also an emergency physician and a surfer- hence the title of his website http://www.crestofthewave. (To own the book, click here.) Other topics under discussion in this episode are ethanol, milk, and a case from the ER. Click here to listen to how they all fit together.

Here is what was posted following Dr. Miller’s radio visit in May, 2006:

“Riding Down the Highway”

Wednesday 17 May 2006

“OK. You’re cruising down the highway and everything is going along great when you see a sign that says “Toll Booth Ahead.” All right. No big deal. You come up to the booth and take out your money or E-Z Pass. However, the toll booth person stops you with a question. “So, how do you really feel about paying this toll?” he asks. If you respond positively he waves you through but if you grumble about the cost, he tells you to go to the end of the line. The others have priority over you even if you reached the booth first. This may sound a little far-fetched but this scenario may play itself out on another kind of highway – – the internet highway. So says the guest of Chuck Harder on his “For the People” show. The guest is Dr. Conrad Miller, author of the book, “The Most Important Issues Americans THINK They Know Enough About.” The first topic under discussion is COPE (Communications Opportunity Promotion and Enhancement Act of 2006). Chuck thinks that the name is not a true indication of what it really means. Miller ( WEBSITE: www.CrestOfTheWave.com) says that the internet is a dangerous place and that with this bill, it is becoming more so. He feels that it is a way for Big Business to simply take over the internet, squeezing out the average user. Also on the agenda for Chuck and the good doctor is the issue of nuclear waste. And Chuck has an interesting thought – – no matter where it is stored, eventually the container holding the waste will disintegrate and then what? Go here so you may listen to this podcast: http://goodpoliticsradio.com/wordpress/?p=148

Some background on Chuck Harder:

Meet the man who invented CONSUMER AFFAIRS RADIO! Chuck Harder founded FOR THE PEOPLE NETWORK in 1987. In doing so, he created a radio program that did more than TALK about what America needs. His is a show, that over the years, has had a profound impact on the lives of MILLIONS of working Americans.

Chuck Harder joins TalkStarƠRadio line up with the promise of renewing his radio fight for a NEW MORNING IN AMERICA with even greater vigor, because he believes his message is needed more now than ever before.

Mr. Harder wants to see JOB’S COME BACK to America. Chuck says, “We have lost 20 million good high- paying jobs as our government encourages factories to move offshore and fire the USA workers. Two government agencies; The Overseas Private Investment Corporations and the USA Agency For International Development actually help factories move. We must bring the factories back so we can have a “value-added” economy and be able to pay our international debts. We are now the world’s largest debtor nation and it used to be the other way around before “Free Trade.”

Mr. Harder concludes, “Our mission is to restore America and protect the working family. This is done by raising awareness of the issues affecting us and then in turn those in Washington will eventually hear our pleas. What can YOU do? Listen to our show daily on TalkStar Radio and watch our NEW TELEVISION SHOW. We will tell you on the radio how to get our TV Show.”
